Kim Delaney is an American actress who is best known for her role as Detective Diane Russell in ABCs series NYPD Blue for which she garnered an Emmy Award. In addition, she was a part of dramas such as All My Children Philly CSI: Miami, Army Wives and CSI: Miami. Delaney was the only daughter of a United Auto Workers executive and his wife who was a domestic worker. Her upbringing was within a household which included four brothers. She envisioned becoming a court reporter in her early years, but began modeling at high school, eventually earning commercials when she moved to New York. In 1981, she appeared as an innocent teenager in the film All My Children. Delaney has appeared in a variety of television shows, films and dramas after that. Her career hasn't been successful or happy personal life. The gifted actress was struggling to overcome addiction to alcohol, and was married twice only to fall apart. The year 2005 was the time she was denied custody of the sole child she was born with.
